Tanya Williams (Director of Collier County Library) & Connie Kindsvater (President of Friends of the Library of Collier County, Inc.)

Friends of the Library of Collier County (“Friends”) is proud of its 64-year history of supporting the Collier County Public Library System, with its 10 branch locations.

When the Director of the Public Library, Tanya Williams, asked Friends for help with funding for additional e-books, Friends was happy to be able to help. The COVID-19 pandemic substantially increased the public’s desire for e-books, but the Public Library was unable to obtain the necessary funding for e-books in the 2020-2021 budget approved by the Collier County Commissioners.

Friends of the Library of Collier County is happy to have been able to satisfy the Public Library’s need. Friends donated $100,000 for 2020-2021.

Friends of the Library of Collier County supports the Public Library in a variety of ways. Friends raises funds for the Public Library, contributes books and resources to children’s reading and adult literacy programs, substantially supports the genealogy program, donates to the summer reading program, and supplies postage so Collier County’s homebound community is able to return materials to the library. Friends also supplies branch enhancements needed by each branch of the library, where budget resources are insufficient.

Friends of the Library of Collier County raises money in several ways. Memberships in Friends is its key source of funding. To become a member of Friends, visit Friends’ website at www.collier-friends.org.

Friends also raises money through four activities: the Nick Linn Lecture Series (4 times a year at Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, lunch included); the Nonfiction Author Series (4 times a year at Kensington Golf and Country Club, breakfast included); the Local Author Book Fair at South Regional Library (November 13, 11am-3pm); and the newest, the Beach Series at The Naples Players Sugden Community Theatre (2pm).
